MARGARITAVILLE

FRANK AND LOLA
LOVE PENSACOLA!

pastedgraphic-51.jpeg

The Margaritaville Hotel is a recent addition to the landscape of Pensacola Beach, and the resort brought with it a Caribbean-style cafe with an upscale flare for flavor. Inside Margaritaville is where beach visitors will find the Frank and Lola Love Pensacola Café.

The cafe is named after Jimmy Buffett’s 1982 song “Frank and Lola,” which immortalized the couple on their second honeymoon in Pensacola. The blue bar top at Frank and Lola’s and the hanging blue lights above complement the emerald waters of the Gulf of Mexico, which can be seen from every window.

HOW TO - GUIDE FOR MARGARITAS
The basic margarita recipe consists of three ingredients:

•  Good Tequila

•  Cointreau (triple sec)

•  Fresh lime juice.

Making good margaritas is an art form.  It is about amounts and presentation, personal taste and variety.  Thus a little expermentation is needed. These are basic recipes I compiled from the web and as always...

oclock-somewhere-tavern-sign-p-679.html.jpgI will discuss them with my favorite Margarita Guru at Chilies and then add to the equations.  He makes 50-60 a night.   Commonly, most Margaritas are equal parts of each ingredient, and can vary as much as a 3 parts Tequila,  2 parts Cointreau, : 1 part: lime juice ratio.

Triple sec is an orange liqueur that adds a sweet-and sour flavor to the cocktail. Most experts prefer the Cointreau instead of bar triple sec.

Generally you shake the Margarita with ice and serve in salt rimmed glasses. You can add Grand Marnier instead of Triple sec for concocting an Exotic Expensive Margarita. Another popular substitute, based on taste, is lemon juice or mix for lime juice, again, matter of taste. You know the purists would balk at this. Here using authentic Jimmy Buffett mixes and blends are the Margaritas of Margaritaville.

TIPS FROM REAL BARTENDERS: PROS and CONS

•  Margarita Mix - If you do not want to go through the bar tending hassle of blending your margarita? Opt for ready margarita mix. Pick up a margarita mix in the flavor of your choice - Strawberry  -  Lemon  -  Raspberry  -  Pina colada  - Pineapple   -  Kahlua -  Vanila.

•  Typically the margarita mix is to be blended with water in a blender. Thats insures consistency. A margarita mix can be very convenient at a party since margaritas are popular and you can make them straight up or frozen.

•  Sweet and sour mix in a margarita is not approved by some pros. A real margarita is made of SWEETENED lime juice (like Rose's).  You may add a half-a-splash of FRESH SQUEEZED orange juice to sweeten further.

•  Prepared Tequila, waste of money.  When you add all those other very strong flavors to a tequila, it overpowers the Tequila.  The small taste differences lost smothered by the Coconut or the Strawberry etc.

•  A decent tequila should cost no more than $20 a liter.  The hip brands or the sophisticated labels that cost more than the national debt are just burning money.  You are paying for the bottle the image and the hangover.

•  If you are a fan of tequila shots.  The shooters need the good stuff.  It's a different league if you gulp straight. last comment courtesy of the foundation to Save the Esophogus.com
